This privately owned, limited company has been in existence since the 1950s when Messers Smith and Wallbridge set it up (hence the origins of the name). The company was bought in the 1960s by the current chairman and chief executive, Ken Knox, who has overseen its metamorphosis from a small concern, offering straightforward transporting services, into a medium/large logistics operator offering a comprehensive range of supply chain services to big, blue chip clients.
